CLSAPP1 and CLSAPP3 have been amended to include options for civil partner, client password and a Data Protection Act statement. CWORK1 has been amended to include references to NASS payments for immigration cases and CMRF has been altered to clarify the inclusion of VAT. These forms can be used on receipt.
On 10th August, the Legal Services Commission notified all General Criminal Contract holders of an amendment to their contract which will come into force on 2nd October.
On 2nd October, the Criminal Defence Service Act 2006 will reintroduce means testing for criminal legal aid in the Magistrates’ Courts.
CDS14, CDS15, CDS16 and CDS17 are four new forms which the Legal Services Commission has drafted to facilitate applications for legal aid in the Magistrates’ Court. These forms replace CRIM_A in your range which is the Application for the Right to Representation in Criminal Proceedings. CDS14, CDS15, CDS16 and CDS17 must be used from 2nd October, whilst CRIM_A must be deleted accordingly.
From November, the Legal Services Commission will begin to collect equal opportunities data for all clients funded under the General Criminal Contract. Information on gender, ethnicity and disability will also be collected.
CDS1 has been amended to add a box for civil partner, collect information on gender, update the definition of disability and enhance the Data Protection Act statement. CDS1 must be used from 1st November.
Both CDS6 and CDS7 have been amended to add fields for the collection of equal opportunities monitoring data.
The revised CDS6 form must be used for the November 2006 submission to Process Centres which is made in December. The amended CDS7 form must be used for all claims signed and dated on or after 1st November 2006.
