The Act of Sederunt (Simple Procedure) 2016 makes provision about the procedure to be followed in simple procedure cases. It comes into force on 28 November 2016, when the first set of cases will become subject to simple procedure. If you are raising a claim which has a monetary value of £5000 or less which seeks payment, delivery, recovery of possession or an order for someone to do something specific, you should use simple procedure.

The existing Small Claims and Summary Cause forms can continue to be used in respect of actions which have a monetary value of £5000 or less, or those that were raised before 28th November 2016.
