The Legal Aid Agency (LAA) will introduce new contracts for the provision of Actions Against the Police (AAP), Clinical Negligence (CN) and Public Law (PL) across England and Wales on 1st November. In particular, the LAA will introduce a new schedule reference for reporting under all cases begun under the 2015 Standard Civil Contract. In addition, legal aid practitioners who hold the 2015 Contract will only be authorised to undertake a maximum of 5 cases under the miscellaneous category of law. The existing number of procurement areas will be reduced from twelve to seven. The Legal Aid Agency has amended the CWORK3A(IM), CIVAPP1, CIVAPP3, CIVAPP6 and CIVAPP8 forms listed to reflect these changes to the 2015 Standard Civil Contract for use from 1st November. Any forms which are signed or dated on or after 1st November must be the new forms. Any forms which are signed or dated before 31st October should be submitted before 30th November or run the risk of being rejected. Although any of the amended CIVCLAIM forms which are signed or dated after 1st November must be the latest versions, the Legal Aid Agency will accept the revised CIVCLAIM forms prior to 1st November. The Legal Aid Agency has also created a new template CIVPOS for the additional information required where certain categories are selected for the prospects of success where the CIVAPP forms have been supplied. Subscribers to this range should therefore use these latest versions of these three forms for applications made on or after 1st November in the circumstances explained above. Finally, please find available CIVAPP8A and CRM4, which have been amended to include a database dropdown list with regard to experts. This dropdown list has also been added to CIVCLAIM1, CIVCLAIM1A and CIVCLAIM2.
