On 7th November, the Immigration Minister announced the introduction of a new points system for assessing applicants under the Highly Skilled Migrant Programme (HSMP).

Although these changes to the Immigration Rules came into force on 8th November, the Immigration and Nationality Directorate (IND) suspended the operation of HSMP until 5th December.

This Ministerial announcement was followed later by the publication of the Immigration (Leave to Remain) (Prescribed Forms and Procedures (Amendment No.2) Regulations 2006 which represcribed FLR(IED) and which prescribed FLR(HSMP) as the official form for use to apply for limited leave to remain in the UK as a highly skilled migrant.

We also enclose a new application form HSMP1 which should be completed in accordance with guidance notes which can be downloaded from www.workingintheuk.gov.uk .
