The Companies (Particulars of Usual Residential Address) (Confidentiality Orders) Regulations 2002 provide that directors, secretaries of companies and permanent representatives of oversea companies can apply to the Secretary of State for a confidentiality order where they can demonstrate actual or serious risk of violence or intimidation.
If granted such an order, these company officials need not supply their usual residential address for the public record but instead merely provide an address for service. Their usual residential address will be kept on a separate secure register with access allowed only to certain "competent authorities".
Although these Regulations came into force on 2nd April, Companies House has only just approved the Oyez versions of these forms. However. the existing versions of these forms can all continue to be used where no application is made for a confidentiality order but where practitioners have a corporate client whose senior officials wish to avail themselves of a confidentiality order, only the amended forms should be used.
