The Trade Mark Rules 2018 amend the Trade Marks Act 1994 and the Trade Mark Rules 2008 as a result of a 2015 EU Directive and these 2018 Trade Mark Rules will come into force on 14th January.

The UK Intellectual Property Office (UKIPO) has amended the TM7, TM7F and TM26(1) forms and created the new form TM12R as a result of these 2018 Rules

In addition, the UKIPO amended the TM24 form in December which can be used immediately.

However, intellectual property practitioners should only use the latest versions of TM7, TM7F and TM26(1) forms and the new TM12R forms for applications which are completed on or after 14th January.
