The Criminal Legal Aid and Remuneration etc (Amendment) Regulations 2015 will come into force on 1st July and will implement the second half of the 17.5% reduction in fees for criminal legal aid which the Government originally introduced in March 2014.

In particular, this reduction in fees for all criminal litigation services will be applied to all determinations made on or after 1st July.

Although the Legal Aid Agency has not advised Oyez of any amendments to its forms, legal aid practitioners should be aware that the reduction in fees will apply to:-

1. all police station attendances when the date of the UFN is 1st July
2. applications submitted on CRM1 and CRM2 made on or after 1st July
3. representation orders granted on or after 1st July.
4. applications submitted on CRM3 made on or after 1st July.

Criminal legal aid practitioners who subscribe to this range should check the Legal Aid Agency’s website for more detailed information regarding these changes on 1st July.
